I remember when I worked at the A&P through the Seventies and early Eighties, and quite often you'd open a case of store brand product, and another chain's merchandise would be in the box. All the store-brand stuff was made in the same plants. A lot of private label goods came from A&P's plant in Horseheads NY, and they made all kinds of product for the other chains.
The Acme Style Blog was established in January 2009 with the mission of preserving the history of Acme Markets.
The blog features pictures and stories of Acme grocery stores, including closed, abandoned and repurposed locations throughout Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania with the hopes of eventually having every Acme and former Acme represented on the blog.
